Email should be simple. You get messages, you send messages. But somehow it’s become one of the most confusing parts of using a computer.
If you’re in Florence, Darlington, Hartsville, or anywhere in the Pee Dee area and your email is giving you trouble, I can help sort it out.
“I can’t get into my email.” Forgot your password? Got locked out? Account got hacked? I’ll help you regain access and secure your account.
“My email looks different and I can’t find anything.” Gmail, Yahoo, and Outlook all love to redesign their interfaces. I’ll show you where everything moved to.
“I’m getting way too much spam.” Let’s set up better filters and unsubscribe from the junk.
“I want my email on my phone.” I’ll set it up so you can check email from your phone, tablet, and computer — all showing the same messages.
“I can’t send attachments.” Whether it’s photos, documents, or something else, I’ll show you how.
“Someone hacked my account and sent weird emails to everyone.” This is more common than you’d think. I’ll secure your account and help you let people know.
“I have multiple email addresses and it’s confusing.” We can consolidate or at least organize things so it makes sense.
There are a few main types of email, and they work slightly differently:
Gmail (Google) — The most common. Free, works well, lots of storage. If you have an Android phone, you probably already have one.
Yahoo Mail — Still popular, especially with people who’ve had email for a long time.
Outlook/Hotmail (Microsoft) — Microsoft’s email. If you have an @outlook.com, @hotmail.com, or @live.com address, this is you.
Email from your internet provider — Spectrum, AT&T, etc. These work, but I usually recommend also having a Gmail or similar. If you switch internet providers, you don’t want to lose your email.
iCloud (Apple) — If you have an iPhone or Mac and an @icloud.com address.
No matter which type you have, I can help.
This is one of the most stressful email problems. You can’t get in, maybe someone else is using your account, and you feel helpless.
Here’s the good news: most of the time, we can recover it. The process depends on which email service you use, but typically involves:
If you’ve been locked out for a while, it can get more complicated, but it’s usually still fixable.
Ideally, your email should work the same everywhere. Read a message on your phone, and it shows as read on your computer. Delete something on your tablet, and it’s gone everywhere.
This is how it should work by default with modern email, but sometimes things get misconfigured. I’ll make sure everything is synced up properly.
If your inbox is 90% junk, you’re not alone. Here’s what we can do:
I’ll also show you how to spot phishing emails — the ones that pretend to be from your bank or Amazon but are actually scams.
While I’m there, I’ll make sure your email is as secure as reasonable:
This stuff can prevent a lot of headaches down the road.
Yes. I know some people mostly use texting and Facebook now, but email is still important for:
It’s worth having an email account that works properly.
